Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and applesauce. Mix until smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, stirring until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans and the sugar-free chocolate chips for added flavor and texture.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Once done, allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Slice the banana bread and serve it warm or at room temperature. Top with a dollop of sugar-free yogurt or a smear of nut butter for an extra treat.
