Ingredients

1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for strawberries)

1 pound angel food cake, cut into cubes

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Gently toss to coat and let them sit for about 20 minutes to release their juices.

In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until it starts to thicken. Add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Continue whipping until soft peaks form.

Fold in the vanilla yogurt into the whipped cream until well combined; this adds a nice tanginess and creamy texture.

In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start layering by adding a layer of angel food cake at the bottom.

Spoon a layer of the sugared strawberries over the cake cubes, followed by a layer of the whipped cream mixture.

Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the dish, finishing with a layer of whipped cream and a few strawberry slices for garnish.

Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Before serving, garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
