3piecesgreen onions, chopped (whites and greens separated)
2teaspoonssesame seeds
to tastecooked rice (white or brown) for serving
optionalkimchi for topping
Instructions
In a medium bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. This will be your marinade.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink.
Drain excess fat from the beef if necessary and then pour the marinade over the beef. Stir well to coat and let cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
In a separate pot, steam the broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes, or until bright green and just tender. Add the julienned carrots to the steaming pot during the last minute of cooking.
To assemble the bowls, start with a base of cooked rice. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture, steamed broccoli, and carrots.
Garnish with chopped green onions (greens) and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top. If you like a kick, add a spoonful of kimchi on the side.
Notes
Serve in colorful bowls with a sprinkle of extra sesame seeds and a lime wedge for a vibrant and appetizing look.
