Ingredients
1
loaf
fresh bread (preferably a round artisan or sourdough loaf)
6
tablespoons
unsalted butter, melted
4
cloves
garlic, minced
1
cup
grated Parmesan cheese
1
tablespoon
fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
0.5
teaspoon
salt
0.5
teaspoon
black pepper
1
teaspoon
Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Carefully slice the bread in a crosshatch pattern, ensuring not to cut through the bottom crust. Make cuts about 1 inch apart in both directions.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning (if using). Mix well.
Use a pastry brush to generously spread the garlic butter mixture into the cuts of the bread, making sure it seeps into all the nooks.
Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the sliced bread, pushing some into the cuts for extra cheesy goodness.
Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
Take the loaf out of the oven and sprinkle the fresh parsley over the top before serving.
Notes
Serve on a rustic wooden board with marinara sauce for dipping.
