Perfect Sugar Cookies Easy Recipe for Everyone
Ingredients
- 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1.5 cups white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 0.75 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 0 optional colored sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the softened butter and 1 ½ cups of white sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Roll each ball in the extra granulated sugar to coat.
- Space the dough balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. If desired, gently flatten each ball with a fork or the bottom of a glass to create a crisscross pattern.
- If using, sprinkle colorful edible sprinkles or glitter on top of each cookie before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
