Ingredients

  • 1 medium head green cabbage, shredded
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • to taste fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by shredding the cabbage into thin strips. Rinse under cold water and set aside to drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring continuously until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Increase the heat slightly and add the shredded cabbage to the skillet. Stir to coat the cabbage with the oil and garlic.
  5. Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook the cabbage for about 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is softened and slightly caramelized.
  6. Pour in the apple cider vinegar, stirring well to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

💡 Chef's Notes

Serve the sautéed cabbage in a shallow bowl or platter. Drizzle a little extra olive oil and a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top for an inviting look.
